![]() Running the "desktop program" (if it can even be called that) is almost no different from running Discord in a browser when it comes to performance, other than the disk space taken up by an(other) entire Chrome installation.Ģ) Telemetry. The desktop version uses the electron framework, which is basically just Chrome bundled with a Node.js runtime that runs all the code a browser can't run. Here is why, in my humble opinion, you should consider using the browser version of Discord instead of the desktop.ġ) Performance. (Hover over a specific rule for more information!) SUBREDDIT RULES Ruleĭo not make personal attacks or use offensive language in addressing others. Every time I search I need to remember to switch from Online to All.Įxpected behavior: It would make sense for the Friends tab to remember whether I last had "Online" or "All" selected and default to whichever one I was using last, even if the browser tab is closed.Discord is a voice, video, and text communication service to talk and hang out with your friends and communities. However, if I close the web browser tab for altogether, it will not remember I last selected "All". If I click elsewhere in the Discord interface, the friends tab will still say "All" when I return to it. I can fix this by selecting "All", however, it will not remember my setting. Maybe that is what some people want but, I usually don't care if they're online, I can wait for them to see it. This means if I open up the tab and search for a name, I will only find a friend if they are at that second online. This pane filters by "Online / All / Pending / Blocked", and the default is "Online". I have many discord friends so often I want to search for one by name. In the web app, if I choose the DMs tab toplevel (with the Discord logo), and then at the next level choose the "Friends" tab, I get a list of my friends and a search box.
